William
Artus Jr. ( my g.g.g. grandfather) was born in Minsterworth, Glos. on
October 26th 1800. He
became a butcher by trade, and it was because of this calling that he
found himself in deep trouble in 1822 when he was imprisoned, along
with his elder brother John, for
being in possession of "two fat cows, well knowing them to be stolen".
